Yarn notes

Materials with a point of view.

We keep a focused selection of yarns for learning, mending, and slow projects: dependable wool, soft plant fibres, and small amounts of colour that do not overwhelm a pattern. You do not need a vast stash to make something lasting; a good match of fibre, tool, and intention goes a long way.

Start with a project that fits your week. A simple ribbed cowl teaches consistency. A granny-square pouch offers many small finishes. A pair of wrist warmers introduces shaping without asking for a whole sweater’s attention. In workshops, we help match a project to the time and skills you actually have.

Natural fibres behave differently in the hand and after washing. Wool has bounce, cotton has weight, linen relaxes, and blends can make an everyday piece easier to care for. We talk through this openly, without insisting there is one correct material for every maker.

Bring in yarn from home for a quick project conversation. If it is a good fit, we will say so; if another choice would save frustration, we will explain why. The goal is not more supplies. It is a fabric you enjoy making and using.
